2. How much does it cost?
Nothing. The service is completely free, allowing you to dispose of used materials safely and sustainably at no additional cost, other than your postage.

3. What materials can I return?
We accept most used materials originally supplied by Advent Research Materials — including metals, alloys, and specialist research materials that are difficult to recycle through standard waste channels. Each return request is checked for eligibility when you submit the form.

4. How does the return process work?
Three steps. (1) Complete the return form on the ReMaterial page with basic details about the items. (2) Once we've reviewed your submission and confirmed eligibility, we'll send you instructions on where and how to send your materials. (3) We responsibly recycle or repurpose the returned material in an environmentally friendly manner.

5. What information do I need to provide?
The return form asks for your name, organisation, and email; the Advent part number and the date the order was placed; the approximate weight of material in grams; and as much detail as possible about what the material has been used for and what it may have been exposed to.

6. My material has been used in experiments — is that a problem?
No — the scheme exists precisely for used materials. We ask what the material has been used for and exposed to so that our team can handle and process it safely and choose the right recovery route.

7. What happens to my materials after I return them?
Every returned item is processed in the most environmentally sound way possible — whether through repurposing, refining, or recycling. With decades of experience in research materials, we make sure valuable resources re-enter the supply chain rather than being discarded.

8. Why is it hard to recycle research metals through normal waste channels?
